PESHAWAR, Oct 19: Federal Minister for Political Affairs and president of the NWFP chapter of the Pakistan Muslim League Amir Muqam has urged elected representatives to create public awareness about protection of public property.

He was talking to a delegation at the Wapda House here on Thursday.

The delegation included MNA Maulana Rehmatullah, provincial minister Kashif Azam and acting district nazim Peshawar Razaullah Chagarmatti. Nazims apprised the Federal Minister about the attack on the Palosi feeder.

Amir Muqam said that no one would be allowed to take law in his hand. He said that people in general and public representatives in particular were duty-bound to protect public property.

The delegation members assured the minister that such incident would not re-occur and informed him about problems of their respective areas.

The minister said that work on supply of electricity and gas to Peshawar had been started. He said that installation of 192 tubewells would also start soon.

Earlier, Amir Muqam addressed open katcheries in Hayatabad and Wadpa House.

SIX ARRESTED: The police have apprehended six proclaimed offenders wanted in murder cases and recovered two kilogrammes of heroin from drug pushers. Those arrested during the anti-criminal campaign are Izaat Khan, Mohammad Faisal, Gul Rehman, Dost Muhammad, Momin and Wahid Gul.

Sources said that the police had launched a crackdown against criminals on the directives of Haji Mohammad Iftikhar, acting chief of the capital city police.—APP
