KARACHI: Non-bailable warrants for PPP MPA’s arrest issued

KARACHI, Oct 19: The district and sessions judge, South, Agha Rafique Ahmed Khan, issued non-bailable warrants for the arrest of a PPP MPA on Thursday in the Eshwar Lal case for not attending the court proceedings.
The forfeiture of surety bond of MPA Murad Ali Shah was also ordered, and the police were directed to produce him on Nov 17.
The court also dismissed the application of defence counsel Shahadat Awan, who prayed the to condone the absence of the MPA due to his sickness.
Judge Khan also issued bailable warrants for the arrest of complainant, Eshwar Lal and three prosecution witnesses for not attending the court proceedings. The prosecution witnesses included Mujeeb Jenejo, additional secretary, Sindh Assembly, Abdur Razzak, an employee of the Sindh Assembly, and Mahi Khan Wasan.
Nisar Ahmed Khuhro, Munawar Ali Abbasi, Mohammad Nawaz Chandio and Mohammad Saleem Hingoro were present in the court.
The MPAs were booked under Sections 324, 506-B, 109 and 34 of the Pakistan Penal Code for attempted murder on the complaint of the ruling party MPA by the Preedy police on June 26.
Turabi case: An anti-terrorism court adjourned on Thursday hearing of the murder case of Allama Hasan Turabi, the provincial chief of the Tehrik-i-Islami.
Judge Feroze Mehmood Bhatti of the ATC-2 fixed October 21 for the next hearing on the request of special public prosecutor, Naimat Ali Randhawa.
The prosecutor informed the court that the investigation officer of the case had gone to the upcountry to arrest some accused in the case and he requested the court to adjourn the case.
Mohammed Ameen alias Khalid Shaheen alias Abdullah, Sultan Mehmood alias Saifullah alias Muslim, Mohammed Rehman alias Mani, Mohammed Ashfaq Qureshi and Akbar Khan were arrested in the case. Mufti Ilyas, Hazrat Ali, Khalid, Ali Hasan and Sohail Ahmed Siddiqui have been shown absconders in the final charge-sheet.
Allama Turabi, who was also the Sindh vice-president of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, and his young nephew were killed on July 14 when a suicide bomber blew himself up outside the religious leader’s Gulshan-i-Iqbal house.
Three policemen Azhar Hussain, Fakhar Hussain, Mohammad Rashid were injured in the attack.
Mohammed Ameen, Sultan Mehmood and Mohammed Rehman were arrested by the police on July 25 in Old Muzaffarabad Colony, Quaidabad, on a tip-off. The police also seized a CD which led to the identity of the suicide bomber.
The CD contained a blurry video of the suicide bomber, with grenades strapped to his body, saying he was about to embark on a sacred mission. “After accomplishing my mission, I will go to Paradise” said the gun-wielding suicide bomber of Bangladeshi extraction.
Later on Aug 15 the police arrested Mohammed Ashfaq and Akbar Khan.
