Club fined for crowd trouble

BERLIN, Oct 17: Hamburg SV have been fined 20,000 euros ($25,070) by the German Football Association after a fan threw a broken glass bottle at Werder Bremen goalkeeper Tim Wiese in a Bundesliga game.

The small bottle was one of several items thrown by Hamburg fans in the direction of Wiese during the 1-1 draw between the two northern rivals on Sept 23. The goalkeeper was unhurt.

Hamburg, who play away to Porto in the Champions League on Tuesday, have yet to win this season and are second from bottom of the Bundesliga with five points from seven games.—Reuters
