Flood-affected people seek compensation

By Our Correspondent

CHARSADDA, Oct 17: People of flood affected areas held a protest rally in front of the press club on Monday against non-payment of compensation. The protesters said they had been assured by the district and provincial governments that the affected people would be provided food, shelter, medicines and financial help for rehabilitation, but nothing happened.

The speakers on the occasion alleged that the funds provided by a large number of national and international donors had been misappropriated both at local and provincial levels.

Zahid, a resident of Hajiabad Turangzai, appealed to President Pervez Musharraf to order an inquiry into the distribution of relief assistance among the flood affectees.
