KARACHI, Oct 17: The lingering on crisis in fisheries sector took a serious turn on Monday as a representative of Fishermen Cooperative Society levelled serious charges against the director-general of the Marine Fisheries Department and demanded his removal from the service.

The FCS official termed the attitude of the MFD chief as non-cooperative and against the interests of all stakeholders — the KFHA, the FCS, processors and fishermen.

In his first official statement in response to the decision of the MFD for suspending the seafood for export purposes to the European Union countries from the K-1 Auction Hall in Karachi Fish Harbour, Ahmed Zamir Khan, convenor vigilance committee of the FCS charged that the MFD chief had tried to tarnish the image of the Society in general and the Sindh government, in particular.
