KARACHI: Water distribution system revamping planned
KARACHI, Oct 17: The managing director of the Karachi Water and Sewerage Board, Brig Iftikhar Haider, on Tuesday said that in order to provide potable water to every locality of the metropolis, all worn-out and old water pipelines would be replaced or repaired by December.
Talking to newsmen at an Iftar-dinner hosted for media men, he rejected that there was any shortage of water in Karachi. He said that the KWSB was stabilizing the water distribution system.
Brig Haider said the KWSB was focusing on desalination plants in Karachi, adding that work on such projects would soon be kicked off. Work on the K-IV project would be started next year, he said.
Answering a question, he said Lyariites would be provided with additional water after completion of repairs of the affected pipelines along the Lyari Expressway, adding that they had approached the National Highway Authority in this regard.
