KARACHI: Street crimes to be curbed soon, says adviser
KARACHI, Oct 16: Sindh Home Adviser Waseem Akhtar said that street crimes would be controlled very soon.
He stated this while talking to media at an Iftar hosted by an advertising and marketing enterprise here on Sunday.
Mr Akhtar said that TPOs had been directed to personally patrol the city roads to contain street crimes. He pointed out that recently TPOs were transferred due to a surge in street crimes.
The adviser said that the accused in target killing, too, would soon be caught and brought before the people. Admitting that jails in Sindh are over crowded, he said new barracks were being constructed.
He informed that minor cases against foreigners, particularly those from Bangladesh, would be withdrawn and they would be repatriated to their countries.The Iftar was attended, among others, by Federal Minister Syed Safwanullah, Nazim Gulshan Town Wasey Jalil, Nazim Gulberg Town Masood Ahmed Hayat, Additional Secretary Home Rasheed Alam and others.
Later the adviser formally inaugurated a community police parking lot on the plot of Delhi Mercantile Society at Tariq Road where vehicles could be parked from 4pm to 4am daily at a parking fee of Rs20 and about 500 vehicles can be parked at a time.—APP
