Oil resource curse

OSLO, Oct 16: Over 500 actors involved in the oil and mining industry on Monday met in Oslo to consider how to break the “resource curse” which sees the vast majority of the world's three billion poor living in countries rich in natural resources.

Among those attending the meeting entitled “Making transparency a global norm”, was World Bank president Paul Wolfowitz and representatives from some 40 governments, international institutions, oil groups and civil society.—AFP
