Performance of PNSC Reviewed

KARACHI, Oct 16: Senator Gulshan Saeed, Chairperson of the Senate Committee on Port and Shipping, on Monday stressed that the people of Balochistan should be given all incentives in development project related to Gwadar Port. Quotas should be earmarked for them, she said.

She was speaking at a meeting of the committee at the PNSC office to review the performance of the national flag carrier.

PNSC Chairman Taquir Haider Naqvi briefed the committee on the ongoing projects of PNSC, financial results for the year 2006 and acquisition of new ships. The committee was also briefed on the recruitment of officers and crew on board PNSC ships.

Regarding Gwadar Port, the committee stressed that to make the port a success the first priority should be the development of peripheral area.—APP
