RAHIM YAR KHAN, Oct 15: DAP is being sold at high price in Rahim Yar Khan district. The price hike is because of fertiliser companies who are forcing dealers to purchase urea with DAP. The dealers say they can’t buy urea as it is not used for any crop nowadays.
The wheat sowing season in the district starts from Oct 15 and farmers prepare land for sowing. During preparation, one to two bags of DAP are needed. This year wheat will be cultivated on more than 700,000 acres.
The dealers are forced to purchase two trucks of urea with one truck of DAP by fertiliser companies.
The prime minister had recently announced a subsidy of Rs250 on per bag of DAP. It was expected after the announcement of the subsidy that the farmers would use maximum DAP at the time of sowing.
But the condition imposed by fertiliser companies to purchase urea with DAP is creating problems for dealers. They have urged the prime minister and federal food and agriculture minister to look into the matter.
