Dialogue on provincial autonomy

KARACHI, Oct 15: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Mahammed Ali Durrani has said that a comprehensive dialogue on provincial autonomy will be initiated immediately after Ramazan.

Speaking at an iftar party hosted by his ministry for mediapersons here on Sunday, he said that the armed forces, as an institution, were above all criticism under the Constitution of Pakistan, and integrity of Pakistan was not a debatable issue.

He reiterated the government’s plan to hold the next general elections under the supervision of an independent election commission and said that foreign analysts would be invited to observe the election process.

He claimed that the government had successfully dealt with the problems of sabotage and terrorism. About Balochistan, he said the government would work with all the parties concerned to resolve the issue.

He said that a report about the murder of Wazirstan journalist Hayatullah Khan had been finalised.

The government had taken necessary steps in this regard, and they would be made public soon, he added.—Online
