KARACHI, Oct 15: Commenting on the dismal situation of the government dispensaries, some of the doctors proposed privatisation of these centres under certain conditions so that the poor patients could get treatment at minimum charges.

While talking to Dawn, some medical officers on condition of anonymity expressed their concern over the poor performances of these dispensaries and said that the officials concerned were well aware of the situation, but seem least interested to redress the problems.

They further said that the condition of the dispensaries had not changed overnight, but gradually deteriorated. “These healthcare centres should be equipped at least with the life saving drugs and diagnostic equipments, otherwise the spending of millions of rupees on such so-called healthcare centres is useless,” the doctors maintained.
