KARACHI: 9 bandits held in separate incidents

KARACHI, Oct 15: Police arrested a bandit following an encounter in which a policeman was injured early Sunday morning in Ahsanabad.

Police said that four armed men barged into the house of Shakil Magsi in Ahsanabad around Sehri time. They held the inmates hostage at gunpoint and started colleting valuables from the house.

Police said that someone from the neighborhood informed the police on 15 after witnessing the suspects sneaking into the house. Subsequently a police mobile reached the spot triggering an encounter during which a policeman Zakir Husain was wounded.

However, police managed to arrest one of the bandits while his three accomplices managed to escape.

Meanwhile, police on Sunday arrested eight bandits involved in street crime in Korangi area. TPO Korangi, ASP Sohail Zafar Chatta, said that eight suspects belonged to two criminal gangs, one group used to carry out robberies in public transport while other used to deprive pedestrians of cash and cellphones.

“Eight TT pistols, 57 live rounds, 5 cellphones and 2 wrist watches were recovered from their possession”, ASP Chatta said.

They have been identified as Mohammad Tayyab, Shahzad Arif, Bashir, Meher Ali, Ghu-lam Shabir, Ali Akbar, Mohammad Sohail and Mohammad Alam.
