Woman axed to death by husband

LAHORE, Oct 14: A woman was axed to death by her husband over domestic issue in Iqbal Town on Saturday. Police said Zawar Husain and Iqbal Bibi, 40, residents of 429-C at Pak Block, exchanged arguments over some domestic issue. In a rush of blood, Zawar attacked his wife with an axe, killing her on the spot.

The body was removed to the city morgue for autopsy. Police investigators are examining the murder through different aspects.

FOUND DEAD: An elderly man was found dead in mysterious circumstances at his residence in City Raiwind on Saturday.

Police said Muhammad Siddiq, 80, was an amulet giver. He was found dead at his residence where he lived alone.

The police removed the body to the city mortuary.

Arrested: City police claimed on Saturday to have arrested 14 members of three gangs and recovered looted valuables and illegal weapons from their possession.

The accused confessed to their involvement in 11 crimes during preliminary interrogation, the police claimed.

A special team, led by Kahna SPO, arrested Qasim alias Neela, Jumma Khan, Azhar and Zareef of Neela gang when they were allegedly planning a robbery bid.

The police recovered illegal weapons from them while one of the gang members, Mumdan, managed his escape.

Another team, headed by the Shera Kot SPO, nabbed Abdul Majeed alias Phaniar, Khalil, Sohail, Kanwal and Waqas of Phaniar gang.

The police seized a pump-action gun, six cell phones and illegal weapons from their possession.

Third team, led by Naseerabad SPO, apprehended Asif ali Baili, Abbas alias Basu, Nazir alias Jeera, Khalid and Shakeel of Baili swindler gang, recovering from their possession Rs70,000 in cash, 10 cell phones and two gold rings.
