KARACHI, Oct 13: Shipping activity remained active at the port where three ships scheduled to load, offload containers, wheat and diesel oil took berth berths during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Monday.

A total of six ships -- Bavaria Express, KIA Waleed, Sargodha, Advantage, Maritani and DD Master -- are currently occupying berths to load, offload containers, rice, wheat, diesel oil and sugar.

Cargo handling operation were carried out smoothly at the port where a cargo volume of 56,213 tons comprising 40,984 tons imports and 15,229 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 349 containers (TEUs) was handled during the report period.

Al-Maqwa and Pacific Jade are expected to take berths on Friday.

Two ships, MSC Eleonora and Walmea, with containers and coal are due to arrive on Friday.
