BAHAWALPUR, Oct 12: The Punjab Chief Minister has directed to establish an industrial estate in Bahawalpur on the pattern of Sundar Estate, Lahore.

This was disclosed by District Nazim Tariq Cheema at an Iftar dinner arranged in his honour by the newly-elected Bahawalpur Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BCCI) president and Yazman Tehsil Nazim Chaudhry Abdul Jabbar at the Circuit House here.

Responding to the demand of the BCCI president, the district nazim quoted the chief minister for establishing industrial estates in Bahawalpur and Gujrat.

He said the problem of unemployment would be resolved to quite an extent by bringing an industrial revolution in three districts.

The district nazim informed the gathering that the Bahawalpur district had effectively secured its full share of funds out of the budgetary allocation for the development work in south Punjab.

In this respect, he referred to numerous new and on-going uplift schemes costing billions of rupees, including ADB-funded project of Rs1.37 billion.

Earlier, BCCI president Chaudhry Abdul Jabbar gave out that chief minister’s financial grant for the construction of chamber building rose to Rs13 million.

He suggested that a strategy should be evolved for the marketing of embroidery work of the skilled women of this area.
