PESHAWAR, Oct 12: Immigration authorities at the Peshawar airport on Thursday arrested two persons for trying to travel on fake documents.

FIA (immigration) assistant director Inamullah Khan Gandapur said a man attempting to board a Qatar Airways flight to Manchester on a bogus visa was arrested and sent to the FIA passport circle for interrogation.

He said Ajmal Ali of the Chishtian town in Bahawalnagar presented his passport to the immigration police for verification. The official at the immigration counter contacted the British High Commission in Islamabad for verification of the visa, which confirmed the visa was bogus.

Niaz Mohammad of Haripur, was detained while attempting to go to Riyadh by a Qatar Airways flight. He too was sent to the FIA passport circle.

Mr Gandapur said the passenger presented his passport issued in the name of Rashid Ali, a resident of Mardan.

Immigration Inspector Qazi Hamid interrogated the passenger who confessed that he had changed the photograph on the passport.

Meanwhile, the city police arrested five alleged criminals from different localities and recovered arms and narcotics from their possession, said a press release issued here on Thursday.
