7,101kg charas seized, six held

ISLAMABAD, Oct 12: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) had seized 7,101.6 kg charas and 1,100 grams heroin and arrested six persons including a union Nazim in separate smuggling attempts, an ANF spokesman said here on Thursday.

He said in the first incident, the ANF personnel intercepted a car (APL-6) at Tarnol Railway crossing and recovered 440 kg charas and seven kg of opium from the false cavities of the vehicle and arrested Syed Arab Shah, Nazim Union Council Hasan Zia, and Ibrar Hussain, residents of Charsadda district.

In the second operation the personnel of the ANF intercepted a truck (P-2059), coming from Peshawar at Attock and recovered 6,640 kg of charas form the vehicle and arrested Musharraf Khan, a resident of Peshawar and Mohabbat Khan, of Nowshera.

In another incident, the officials set up a picket at GT Road near Attock toll Plaza, where a bus bearing (C-1144) coming from Peshawar was stopped.

During search of the bus 21.6 kg of charas, concealed in two shopping bags containing ladies cloth was recovered form the possession of Sher Bacha, a resident of district Nowshera.

Similarly, the staff of ANF intercepted a man, Ghulam Rasool, a resident of district Gilgit at Sust Check post when he was going to China. During search 1,100 grams heroin was recovered from his suitcase.

Separate cases have been registered in the ANF police stations and investigations are in progress.
