NEW DELHI, Oct 11: Activists of the right-wing Hindu Shiv Sena in the Indian state of Punjab burnt the memoirs of President Gen Pervez Musharraf and blocked a key highway on Wednesday, forcing the Delhi-Lahore bus to be diverted.
According to the United News of India, Shiv Sena members of the Mumbai-based group’s Punjab unit burnt an effigy of Gen Musharraf together with the Hindi version of his controversial book titled Agneepath.
The demonstrators blocked traffic near Phagwara for more than an hour near a bus stand. “The Lahore-bound bus from Pakistan was diverted from Phillaur via Noormahal, Nakodar and Jalandhar due to the noisy protests,” UNI said.
