MUMBAI, Oct 11: Off-spinner Dan Cullen will draw on the experience of a previous visit to India after being drafted into the Australia side for the Champions Trophy as a replacement for injured paceman Stuart Clark.

“I came here three-four years ago with the Academy side for three weeks,” the 22-year-old South Australian told reporters after team practice on Wednesday.

“Pitches here offer a lot more turn. Harbhajan (Singh) and (Anil) Kumble have done very well here.”

The 22-year-old South Australian has played one Test and five one-dayers in his first year of international cricket.

Australia will begin their campaign on Oct 18 with a match against a qualifier in Mumbai.

They are scheduled to play warm-up matches on Thursday and Sunday.

“I'm looking forward to playing in conditions that will be like in the actual games over here so as to compare and figure out how far I'll have to pitch it or, you know, hold it back,” Cullen added.

Cullen, who is coached by former Australia leg spinner Terry Jenner, impressed with his approach and attitude in the two matches he played in the Malaysian tri-series. —Reuters
