PML-N to observe black day today

By Our Staff Reporter

ISLAMABAD, Oct 11: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has decided to observe a “Black Day” on Thursday to mark the October 12, 1999, military takeover by Gen Pervez Musharraf after dismissing the elected government of prime minister Nawaz Sharif.

The party has arranged workers conventions and other functions to mark the day, in which the prominent party leaders and office-bearers would deliver speeches to condemn the military rule.

According to sources in the PML-N, the party has not arranged any big public meeting in any city due to the holy month of Ramazan.

However, at some places, small protest rallies have been arranged by the party.

The main function in this connection will be held at the PML-N central secretariat in which party chairman Raja Zafarul Haq will be the chief guest.

Interestingly, no other opposition party has announced any activity on the day.
