Father, son axed to death

ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: A man and his son were axed to death by his relative over a family dispute at Rawalpindi on Tuesday night.

Police said that Sheraz, brother-in-law of Azhar, armed with axe, attacked the man and his son at Ilyas Colony killing both of them.

The bodies were shifted to the hospital for legal process.

Our Taxila Correspondent adds: One pedestrian was killed and two officials of National Highway and Motorway Police (NHWP) sustained critical injuries when a speeding dumper hit them on GT road near Wah Gardens in the jurisdiction of the Wah Cantonment police station on Tuesday night, sources said.

The police sources said that the driver of the dumper lost control over the vehicle while overtaking a motorcycle crossed to the other side of the road and knocked a pedestrian and rammed into a police vehicle coming from the opposite direction.

As a result the pedestrian, identified as Akbar who was standing on the roadside died while two officers of National Highway and Motorway Police (NHWP), Amjad Shahzad and Fahd Anjum, who were patrolling in their official vehicle, sustained injuries. They were taken to POF Hospital in critical condition.

The driver of the dumper managed to escape.

The Wah Cantt Police have registered a case against the unknown driver.

APP adds: Five persons including a proclaimed offender were arrested on charges of being involved in incidents of robberies and the business of fake currency, the capital police said on Tuesday.

Sector I-9 police arrested a proclaimed offender Jamshed Iqbal who allegedly looted five kilograms gold from a Karachi- based jeweller Khursheed Ahmed.
