ISLAMABAD, Oct 10: Inspired by mood, soul and movement, Tabassum Rizvi’s first solo show of impressionistic oil paintings opened at the Nomad Art Gallery on Tuesday.

The heart of her expression has remained fairly constant. As she takes pleasure in painting, she loves to paint horses and women, subjects that uplift her spirit.

In the all new painting collection for this show, Tabassum presents strongly knit families of horses in the wild running free. With brilliant depth and movement, she shows off their eloquent profiles.

In stunning stimulating and vibrant colours and fantastical imagery the artist celebrates life in her figurative paintings. With meticulous care she depicts women in gay colours.

Painting has been a source of great pleasure and satisfaction for her giving her a sense of inner peace as well as a sense of achievement. “My art reaches out from my heart, the endless driving energy and my soul”, says Tabbasum.

“I try to capture the beauty of movement around us. What would be more suitable than the female form to show empathy and communication, or the horse to show the fluid beauty of form? I use bold brush strokes and colours to convey the movement related to the canvas of life”, Tabassum said, who always got ideas and inspiration for figurative paintings.

Words hide behind impressions and every bold stroke makes a statement, she observes.

“It pleases me the way shapes and forms communicate with viewers the way I want them to and it’s easy for people to understand how I feel.

It’s my desire that people experience what I feel through my art”.

Tabassum owes a debt of gratitude to Mansoor Rahi. He understood what I wanted to express. And he helped me convey what I wanted to say with complete freedom, she said.
