MIRPURKHAS: Boy crushed to death

MIRPURKHAS, Oct 10: A boy was crushed to death and two others were seriously injured when a tractor hit them on Maula Bux More near Umerkot town on Monday.

The driver of the tractor lost control when he tried to save a motorcyclist and hit the three boys who were playing there.

Eight-year-old Chandar, son of Ramoon Oad, on the spot while Suresh and Waryam Oad sustained serious injuries.

They were taken to the taluka hospital Umerkot. Police impounded the tractor but the driver escaped.

DCO: The District Coordination Officer, DCO, of Mirpurkhas, Syed Mumtaz Ali Shah, has said that 35,661 kutcha and pukka houses were damaged and 16,957 livestock killed while 14 people including minors died during heavy rainfall in six talukas of the district.

Issuing details of damages caused by the rainfall on Tuesday, he said that in Mirpurkhas, Hussain Bux Mari, Sindhri, Kot Ghulam Mohammed, Digri and Jhuddo talukas, a total number of 17,514 kutcha houses were completely destroyed, 17,310 houses were partially damaged, while another 142 pukka houses were destroyed and 585 houses were partially damaged.

He said that, 661 cows and buffaloes, 12,112 sheep, 2052 goats and 110 other cattle were killed in the six talukas during rains.

FINE: The special magistrate and deputy district officer revenue Jhuddo paid surprise visit to markets and imposed a fine of Rs9,650 on 42 shopkeepers for over-charging and violating Ehteram-e-Ramazan Ordinance on Tuesday.
