KARACHI: Cleanliness around mosques ordered


KARACHI, Oct 10: Lyari Town Nazim Malik Muhammad Fayyaz on Tuesday ordered cleaning the surrounding areas of all major mosques of Lyari so that people did not face any trouble while coming to mosques particularly during the last 10 days of Ramazan.

Chairing a meeting in the Council Hall to review the cleanliness drive, he said that the last 10 days of this holy month were very sacred and exemplary cleanliness in areas surrounding the mosques should be ensured during this period.

He also called for initiating fumigation drive after the safe disposal of garbage, especially around the mosques and Eidgahs. He warned that negligence of duty would not be tolerated at any cost and stern action would be taken against those found guilty.

Naib Nazim Abdullah Rahim Baloch said that additional staff would be deployed around the mosques located on main arteries to ensure proper cleanliness. TMO, Khurshid Ali, DTO Sanitation Ishaq Yousuf, UC Nazims, Naib Nazims also attended the meeting.

SHAH FAISAL: A special cleanliness campaign has been launched in Shah Faisal Town on the directive of Town Nazim Mohammed Imran.

During the campaign launched on Monday, debris were lifted, wall-chalking removed from walls in all the union councils, garbage lifted from 'kundis' and sweeping being carried out on main and internal roads besides washing of roads with machines and sprinkling of lime on road sides.

The town nazim paid a surprise visit to all the union councils of Shah Faisal Town on Tuesday and reviewed the ongoing cleanliness campaign. He directed that health and sanitation measures should be ensured and steps be taken for providing a clean and healthy environment to people. He called for daily cleaning of garbage dumping spots, improved sweeping system on main and internal roads besides undertaking anti-septic spray.

During the visit, the nazim met the people and exchanged views on local problems. He said the officials of town administration besides nazims, naib nazims and councillors of union councils were working round-the-clock to solve the problems of people at their doorsteps.—APP
