KARACHI, Oct 10: Brisk shipping activity was observed at the port where five ships scheduled to load and offload containers, rice, diesel oil and chemicals were arranged berthing at various terminals during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Tuesday.

Departures were also fairly brisk where five ships, three container ships, one edible oil vessel and one chemicals carrier, sailed during the report period.

A total of 10 ships -- MOL Accord, MSC Brianna, Sealand Endurance,

Xiang Wan, Aqua Star, Sargodha, Olympic, Warbah, Suzanne and Caravos Trader -- are currently occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, rice, edible oil, diesel oil, chemicals and seeds.

Cargo throughput during stood at 66,215 tons comprising 53,149 tons imports and 13,066 tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 1,784 containers (TEUs).

Five ships, MOL Accord, MSC Brianna, Sealand Endurance, Suzanne and Olympic, sailed out to sea, while DD Master, Intergnty-1, Anette Kosan and CSAV Ningbo are currently at the outer anchorage.

Two ships, Caravos Trader and Xiang Wan, are expected to sail on Tuesday, while CSAV Ningbo, Anette Kosan, DD Master and Intergntty-1 are expected to take berth on same day.

Bulk cargo carrier Advantage is due to arrive at the port on Tuesday, while Southern Imperial, Al-Maqwa and Bavaria Express, with chemicals, diesel oil and containers, are due to arrive on Wednesday.
