Killer of eight held after 11 years

VEHARI, Oct 9: Burewala police claimed to have arrested a proclaimed offender after 11 years and recovered a huge quantity of arms from his possession.

ASP Dr Masroor Alam Kolachi told reporters on Monday that PO Ghulam Rasool Arain of Chak 173-EB was involved in the killing of eight people.

The ASP said the police arrested the PO from his hideout in a raid after receiving information about his presence.

Vehari DPO Malik Tassaduq Hayat announced certificates and cash rewards for the raiding party.

COMPLAINTS: Among some 1,000 participants of the police kutchery, only three people lodged complaints against the police in Thingi area on Monday.

Two complainants belonged to Thingi area and third to Sahuka tehsil, Burewala.

Liaquat Ali and Sardaran Bibi of Thingi and Muhammad Kherat of Burewala lodged complaints against the police attitude and for not properly investigating their cases.

DPO Malik Tassaduq Hayat orderd Sadar DSP Malik Rafiq to investigate their cases and submit him reports within a week.

Participant Muhammad Waris claimed that the police did not properly advertise about the open kutchery. While the police claimed that the crime rate had decreased on account of holding over half a dozen open katcheris in various parts of the district.
