ISLAMABAD, Oct 9: Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao has said that the law and order situation in Balochistan is heading towards normalcy.

The minister told reporters at an Iftar-dinner that a sharp decline in crime rate and incidents of terrorism had been observed in the province, which had remained a hub of terrorist activities in the past few years.

He reiterated that no military action was being conducted in the province, saying that only paramilitary forces had been engaged in maintaining law and order.

Mr Sherpao rejected the impression that followers of slain Jamhoori Watan Party leader Nawab Akbar Bugti would react on his death and intensify anti-state activities in the province.

He said the government had succeeded in establishing its writ in the province.
