PESHAWAR, Oct 9: Former provincial president of the Awami National Party Begum Nasim Wali Khan has said that all opposition parties should unite on a single platform against the government and work out a workable formula for genuine democracy in the country.

Speaking at the ‘Mulaqaat’ programme of the Charsadda Press Club on Monday, Begum Nasim Wali Khan said that President General Pervez Musharraf had exposed not only himself in his book but also some state secrets.

“But one can expect such things from a person who came to power by force,” she added.

She said that the military remained in power for more than 30 years since the establishment of Pakistan 59 years back. Even when they were not in power, they had a great influence over the civilian governments.

She said that all civilian institutions in Pakistan had been occupied by serving or retired army officials, while inexperienced officials were being deputed as ambassadors in foreign countries. The ANP leader said that the rulers should take lesson from the past mistakes, particularly from the debacle of East Pakistan.
