KARACHI, Oct 8: Three-year-old chestnut filly Swift Arrival galloped to a four-length victory after fancied Birj-ul-Arab on course to make it two on trot was withdrawn in the Summer Gymkhana race meeting at the Karachi Racecourse on Sunday.

Installed as joint favourite in the betting ring, Swift Arrival outpaced second favourite filly Juliat with Waheed Baran astride. After finishing off the board in the last outing she won as she pleased.

Finishing nine lengths behind was mare Jadu Nagri while mare Sonia completed the frame.

Five-year-old bay horse, Chaleswan Chur, tried by the connections, atoned to four dismal runs by sprinting to two-and-a-half lengths victory to claim feature event going over six furlongs.

Saddled by Sher Mohammad, he was ridden by champion rider Mohammad Essa in a smart time of 1 min 16 2/5 seconds.

Mare Countess Mah Again and mare Velvet Green settled for second and third in the field of six.

Essa ended the day with a fine back-to-back double as he piloted fancied bay horse, Trust Again, to a fluent seven lengths victory in the preceding race.

Colt Cant Catch Me who finished second was denied to stretch his winning streak. Public fancy Khas-ul-Khas who led the pack of seven contenders went wide after negotiating the band and settled for third.

As predicted, seven-year-old bay mare, Royal Beauty, lived up to her top billing when she humbled Royal Reach by three-and-a-half lengths to grab the opener.

Seven-year-old bay mare, Ultimate Victory, made it two in a row when she overcame Tom Cruise by three lengths in the next race which saw heavy punishments being imposed on riders for ‘unsatisfactory riding’.

Taking stern action the KRC Racing Committee withdraw the licence of rider of chestnut Field Commander Pervaiz Ali in addition to a fine of Rs20,000 and barred the horse for six month from competing in races.

Pervaiz was charged for allegedly pulling the mount within 100 yards of finishing post allowing Raka Poshi to overtake him and finish third. Field Commander who completed the frame could have finish better had he not indulged in wrong tactics.

Besides, the riders of Silver City, Daruwala, Tun Baba Tun, Silent Love, Guarantee, Lucky Legs, Just Call Me, Ghabra, Bold Doll, Raj Prince and Rita were fined Rs5,000 apiece for ‘unsatisfactory riding’. Chistian The Great was withdrawn before the race.

Three-year-old bay colt, Lucky Leader, who was installed second favourite made amends by picking up spoils in the third race beating Sweet Grandy by three lengths. Favourite Fascinate finished third.

Meanwhile, the KRC has inducted three more members in the Racing Committee headed by Shah Mardan Shah Pir Pagara. The seasoned race owners inducted are Kamal Farooq, Tauseef Ali Siddiqui and Mohammad Farooq Long.
