Power supply to North Waziristan remains cut

By Our Correspondent

MIRAMSHAH, Oct 8: Electricity supply to North Waziristan remained disconnected for the third day on Sunday as a jirga of local tribes and the political administration failed to resolve the issue of repair of transmission line.

Power supply to the agency was disrupted after unknown people threw an iron chain on the main transmission line between North and South Waziristan in protest against frequent loadshedding in the area.

The disconnection has created severe shortage of water across North Waziristan as all tube wells in the area have remained shut for three days. People in the major towns are facing severe water shortage.

The jirga held to resolve the issue remained inconclusive as the tribes remained divided over immediate restoration of the supply.
