ISLAMABAD: Youth skill development plan in offing: PM

ISLAMABAD, Oct 8: Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz on Saturday said that the government would soon initiate a mentoring and guidance programme for the youth to equip them with entrepreneurial skills and promote self-employment in the country.
He was talking to Minister of State for Youth Affairs Ghulam Bibi Bharwana who called on him at the Prime Minister’s House.
Mr Aziz said: “Youth is our national asset and the government is trying to provide it the right environment, relevant education and contemporary vocational skills to develop its true potential.”
He said Pakistan was blessed with talented people and if the youth was provided the right opportunities, it could compete with the best in the world.
The prime minister said that his government was investing heavily to equip the young generation with modern techniques and skills.
Ms Bharwana apprised Mr Aziz of the projects undertaken by the Ministry for Youth Development.
Lauding the government’s moves for announcing Ramazan package, she said people were getting essential commodities at affordable rates.
Meanwhile, domestic political situation, PML’s membership drive and the measures taken to stabilise prices of essential goods of daily use were some of the issues were discussed by the prime minister and ruling PML president Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain during a meeting. Mr Aziz said the government would redeem every pledge made by it to the people before the next general elections.
