KARACHI, Oct 8: In what is seen as the biggest reshuffle of town police officers so far, the government of Sindh has ordered transfer and posting of six TPOs, most of whom enjoying good reputation.
Those removed as TPO have been ordered to report to the Central Police Office.
A handout to this effect, issued here on Sunday, reads: “The government of Sindh has finally moved strongly to implement the fresh strategy adopted/finalised for combating street crimes in Karachi.
“In this regard, a three member committee comprising Adviser to the CM on home affairs Waseem Akhtar, Provincial police chief Jehangir Mirza and City police chief Niaz Ahmed Siddiqui discussed performance of TPOs in detail.”
According to the handout, after an analyzing the crime rate of each town, the committee finally decided to replace all those TPOs under whose jurisdiction the street crime is not under control.
The idea behind the move is to introduce and implement a proper strategy to curb street crimes, besides formulating a task to be assigned to a police team to deliver its best.
In addition, DIG Operations has already been asked to closely monitor performance of SHOs in the city and issue transfer and posting orders according to their eligibility.
The handout further states that Dawood Ahmed, PSP, has been transferred from the post of SSP Traffic Zone III, to take charge of TPO Lyari whereas the TPO Lyari, DSP Shah Nawaz Khan, will now work as SDPO Lyari.
DSP Abdul Hafeez Junejo, until now In-charge of the Lyari Task Force, will henceforth work under the direct supervision of TPO Lyari. SSP Abdul Aleem Jaffari, PSP, has been transferred as AIG Logistics to take charge of TPO Bin Qasim whereas SP Asif Ajaz Shaikh, until now the TPO Bin Qasim, has been posted as TPO Keamari. The TPO Keamari, SP Athar Rasheed Butt, has been directed to report to the CPO.
SP Khurram Shahzad Haider, PSP, has been transferred from his post of ADIG Investigation to become the TPO of New Karachi, replacing SP Fayyaz Ahmed Qureshi, who has been directed to report to the CPO.
ASP Farrukh Bashir, PSP, has been transferred from the Taluka Police Officer, Sehwan, Jamshoro district, to take charge of TPO Orangi Town, replacing DSP Mohammad Shafi Rind who has been directed to report to the CPO.
ASP Sohail Zafar Chattha, PSP, has been transferred as SDPO Darakshan and posted as TPO Korangi, replacing DSP Shahjehan who has been directed to report to the CPO.
DSP Shad Ibne Masih has been transferred as ADIG (Special Branch) and posted as TPO Landhi, replacing DSP Qasim Ghouri who has been told to report to the CPO.
