LAHORE, Oct 7: Three-year-old colt, Quince, will once again be in action in the feature event when the 6th Lahore Winter Meeting gets under way at the Racecourse on Sunday.
This colt from Burn Aie had already won back-to-back races and will be attempting to complete a hat trick of victories on Sunday. His chances to win the top honours look very bright although he has been placed at the top in weight scales with nine stones and two pounds. Among his four rivals, three are under the training of Haji Ghulam Sarwar but none is in full form yet. The Bhalwal Plate class IV division II to be contested over 1300 metres will be the sixth and last race of the day.
In the fifth race, a class IV division III handicap race to be contested over 1300 metres has seven acceptors barring last-minute withdrawals. Three-year-old colt, Jut Bahadur, who finished second behind Nosha on Sunday last is being fancied to win the race Big Bird, Eid and Wendy Trace should fight for less remunerative positions.
The fourth race, the Park View Society cup to be gone over the sprinting distance of 1200 metres has a dozen acceptors. The filly, who was recently been sold to a new owner looks a good thing.
This filly from Cisco Wells out-of-Sysettia, finished among also ran on Sunday last after the mysterious fall of her rider, Aamar Parvaiz during the race. Trump Coup, Great Murad and Sohna Billoo are the other form horses.
Desert Queen, King Of Murad and Lovely Gate are the pick of six runners drawn for the third race, who should put up good performance to pick up the spoils.
Blue Fire, who was placed second on first try out last Sunday should prove his worth this time among his eleven rivals left in after the final forfeit in the second race. Bahar-e-Bhakkar, Cherry's Own and Dam Dama Dam should fight for the frame.
The opener has a field of dozen acceptors, if there are no last-minute withdrawals. Of them four are prominent, namely, Stride To Moment, Himat, Dogar Gift and Royal Palace. However, on form and recent runnings the real contest should be among Stride To Moment and Dogar's Gift.
A card of six events will be decided in the afternoon, Two races each will be held over 1100 metres, 1200 metres and 1300 metres. The first race will start at 1pm.
