Medical stores’ strike against robbery

By Our Correspondent

SIALKOT, Oct 7: Scores of medical storeowners and chemists staged a demonstration here on Saturday in front of Sardar Begum Memorial DHQ hospital in protest against a dacoity on Shahabpura Road and observed a complete shutterdown.

The protestors were holding placards and banners, chanting slogans against the police. They were demanding early arrest of the accused. People, especially patients had to face a great deal of inconvenience owing to closure of medical stores.

Reports said some unidentified dacoits had made off with cash, medicines and other valuables worth Rs0.6 million at gunpoint from Faiq medical store about two days back.

Police have registered a case and started investigation with no arrest or recovery in this regard.

TRAUMA CENTRE: District Nazim Muhammad Akmal Cheema has directed health authorities to make the trauma centre operational at the earliest.
