TOBA TEK SINGH, Oct 7: The city police on Saturday registered a case against a citizen of Lahore and his two accomplices on the charge of attempting to abduct a Punjab University student from her house in Garden Town here.

According to the police report, Salahuddin — a resident of Gulshan-i-Ravi, Lahore — advertised in print media a vacancy at his office and after going through the process got a Punjab University student’s signatures on various documents on the pretext of offering her the job.

However, he started blackmailing the girl and asked her to accept him as her husband otherwise he would abduct her. He, together with his accomplices, tried to abduct the girl but her brother and relatives foiled their bid. The culprits fled firing in the air.

The police are conducting raids for the arrest of the culprits.

CASE: The Rajana police on Saturday registered a case against three Kamalia city police officials on the order of additional district and sessions judge on the charge of torturing a man and his son besides driving away with their wagon.

Haji Maqsood Anwar had filed a petition with the AD&SJs in which he had complained that he was carrying girl students from a local college when three policemen arrested him and his son, tortured them and drove away with the vehicle.
