GUJRAT, Oct 7: Two guards deployed at Daffar forest in Mandi Bahauddin were allegedly kidnapped and subjected to torture by timber mafia at Chak-28 on Friday evening.

Reports said guard Zulfiqar Tula had filed a complaint against Qamar Patwari and his accomplices with Miana Gondal police about theft of trees at Daffar forest some time back. However, no case was lodged at that time.

To take revenge, Qamar Patwari along with his nine accomplices kidnapped Tula and another guard, Mukhtar Ahmad, and took them to Chak-28 and tortured them.

Later the accused set them free. Both the guards have been hospitalised.

Meanwhile, Provincial Conservator Tariq Mahmood, Gujrat DFO Nawaz Sandhila and Daffar SDO Nadeem Ashraf Warraich reached the Miana Gondal police station and informed the SHO about the incident.

A case has been registered against the absconding accused.

ROBBERIES: Dacoits looted two houses and took away as many motorcycles in separate incidents in and around the city during the last 24 hours.

Two bandits entered the house of Zeeshan on Gulliana Road in Kharian and made off with a mobile phone and some gold jewellery at gunpoint. Three robbers forced their entry into the house of Akhtar in Shamalia locality of Kharian and decamped with gold ornaments worth Rs60,000.

In another incident, three dacoits intercepted Younas near Machiana, Kunjah and deprived him of his cell phone and motorbike. Some thieves took away the motorcycle of Amir from GTS Chowk.
