HYDERABAD, Oct 7: Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim has advised the sugarcane growers to start transporting their produce to three sugar mills, which have completed preparations for crushing.

The director of Agriculture Information, Sindh, said in a press release issued on Saturday that the three mills were Ansari Sugar Mills, Matli, Army Welfare Sugar Mills, Badin, and Khairpur Sugar Mills, Khairpur.

He said that the management of these mills had informed that they were ready to start crushing but could not until the growers started supplying them sugarcane.

FINED: The DDOs of revenue and mukhtiarkars booked as special judicial magistrates 120 shopkeepers and vendors and slapped on them a fine of Rs42,800 for overcharging.

During their surprise visits to different markets they also challaned 18 men and recovered Rs6,900 fine under the Ehtiram-e-Ramazan Ordinance.

The DDO (revenue) of Latifabad booked 14 shopkeepers and vendors and recovered Rs3,800 fine, DDO (revenue) of Qasimabad booked 12 shopkeepers and vendors and recovered Rs3,100 fine.

Similarly, the city mukhtiarkar booked 28 shopkeepers and vendors and six violators. He imposed a fine of Rs12,600 and 2,700, respectively.

The mukhtiarkar of Latifabad during his surprise visit booked 23 shopkeepers and vendors and recovered a fine of Rs8,900.

The mukhtiarkar of Qasimabad booked 18 shopkeepers and vendors and recovered a fine of Rs4,300. The mukhtiarkar of Hyderabad taluka booked 15 shopkeepers and vendors and six violators and recovered a fine of Rs6,300 and Rs1,700, respectively.
