SUKKUR, Oct 7: The Kalpar Bugtis and Mazaris agreed to end their rivalry after 17-years of feud that left many dead and injured in Kashmore.

It may be mentioned here that the Kalpar Bugtis and Mazaris were at daggers drawn over a minor dispute for the last 17 years, due to which life in Kashmore, Rojhan and Shah Wali of Punjab remained tense as both the groups used to attack each other regularly.

The peace process between the two began with the chief sardar of Kalpars, Jalal Khan Kalpar, visiting Kashmore 20 days ago.

He met the sardar of Essani and Mazari tribes, Ghulam Hussain Mazari with a proposal to end the long-drawn conflict between both the Baloch tribes.

Sardar Ghulam Hussain Mazari had promised him of a positive response after consulting his tribesmen.

At Thursday’s meeting, 5,000 Mazaris met in Kashmore under the joint chairmanship of sardar Ghulam Hussain Mazari and Ghulam Haider Mazari, in which the tribesmen took an oath on the Holy Qura’n to do away with the old enmity with the Kalpars and finally a settlement was announced.

A formal announcement in this regard will be made at a jirga which is expected to be held shortly.

It may be recalled that the bloody dispute between the two tribes began in 1989 over excavation of sand from a hill, which so far had claimed over 150 lives from the either side, while more than 250 people had been left injured.
