PESHAWAR, Oct 6: At least 66 localities in the NWFP and Federally Administered Tribal Areas were not covered during the three-day anti-polio campaign that ended on Sept 14, according to a report prepared by the World Health Organisation and the health department.
It said that the vaccine coverage in 320 other localities in settled and tribal areas was very poor. According to the report, the coverage in South Waziristan was nearly 77 per cent. Officials cited lack of security for health staff and people’s refusal to immunise their children among main factors affecting the vaccine coverage.
Vaccination coverage in the North Waziristan was above 95 per cent.—Correspondent
