KARACHI: Employment must to fight terrorism

KARACHI, Oct 6: At present, terrorism is the biggest problem being faced by the entire world and in such a situation provision of employment to jobless people can play an effective role to curb this menace.

This was stated by Sindh Governor Dr Ishratul Ibad Khan during his meeting with US Consul-General Mary H. Witt accompanied by a delegation of Trade and Investment Framework Agreement (TIFA), here on Friday.

Dr Ibad said that the biggest challenge before us was to combat terrorism for which Pakistan was playing a frontline role. He said that the present government was striving to show the world the real face of Islam and the government was also trying to promote the image of Pakistan as an enlightened, moderate Islamic welfare state.

The Sindh governor informed the delegation that the government was achieving goals for the promotion of foreign investment and providing protection to investors despite limited resources.

Dr Ibad noted that keeping in view the socioeconomic situation of the city; foreign investments could play an important role in creating more job opportunities to mitigate poverty.

He pointed out that we had devised foolproof security for foreign investors and they remained safe and sound saving a couple of incidents.

“The present government is taking multi-dimensional efforts to root-out terrorism and its root causes” he added.

Regarding media freedom, he said that now even the government had to face criticism. The delegation lauded the uplift works being carried out in the province and said that Sindh was an ideal place for investment and in this regard attention of the US investors would be drawn towards it.—PPI
