Port Qasim


KARACHI, Oct 6: Shipping movement remained active at the port where two ships carrying containers took berths at Qasim International Container Terminal during the last 24 hours, said a PQA press release here on Friday.

Berth occupancy was maintained at 80 per cent at the port on Thursday where a total of nine ships -- QIA Al-Fuja'a, CGM CMA Jasmine, CMA CGM Smbhar, Chitra, Tassels, Sea Master, Ginga Hawk, Caravos Trader and Great Well -- were occupying berths to load and offload containers, cement, crude oil, sugar, chemicals, seeds and coke.

A cargo volume of 0.117 million tons comprising 0.088 million tons imports and 0.029 million tons exports inclusive of containerised cargo carried in 2,580 containers (TEUs) was handled during the last 24 hours.

Saudi Hufof, MSC Samia, Kihuland, Sargodha, Aqua Star and Rich Duchess are currently at the outer anchorage.

Three ships, QIA Al-Fujaa, Tasselare and Ginga Hawk, are expected to sail on Friday, while MSC Samia, Saudi Hufof and Olympics-1 are expected to take berth on the same day. Container ship Xiang Wan is due to arrive at the port on Friday, while two more container ships, Sima Pars and Mega-II, are due to arrive on Saturday.
