Death for four kidnappers

Published October 6, 2006

LAHORE, Oct 5: An anti-terrorism court awarded death sentence to four accused in a kidnap for ransom case on Thursday.

ATC judge Mukarrab Khan handed down the sentence to Zakir Ali, Raza Ali, Hamid Ali and Rashid Minhas.

The accused had last year allegedly kidnapped property dealer Rashid Bashir when he was on his way to the Defence Housing Society.

They had kept the real estate agent in their custody for over a week and set him free after receiving a ransom of Rs10 million.

However, a police team rounded up the accused later.

The court announced the decision, saying the evidence submitted against the accused proved their involvement in the crime. —Staff Reporter
