ATTOCK, Oct 5: A case of attempted murder against three persons, including an official of the excise department, has been registered here on Thursday.

Rafiullah, a resident of Chitral, reported to police that he was on way to Rawalpindi along with his family members when the accused fired on his vehicle (C-4775).

On Wednesday evening he was told to stop at an illegal checkpoint by some armed persons wearing black uniforms. They seemed suspicious so he did not stop.

Near Mullah Mansoor Toll plaza, on main GT road, a car (CXJ- 222) came from behind and three persons sitting inside allegedly opened fire on him, as a result, he sustained serious bullet injuries and was rushed to the local hospital. This incident took place in the jurisdiction of Hazro police station.

Beside two unknown persons, one accused was identified as constable Sajjad Ahmed of the excise department.

Stolen car recovered: The local police have recovered the stolen car of a Lahore education board chairman from the possession of a Rangers deserter.

The police received information that the car (LZQ-5606) was snatched on gunpoint a few days ago and was being driven to the NWFP.
