QUETTA, Oct 5: Principal Secretary to the Governor of Balochistan Shoaib Mir on Thursday issued a clarification about the appointment of a new vice-chancellor of the Balochistan University.

He issued a statement according to which a committee, comprising Syed Faseih Iqbal, president of the CPNE, Dr Shahida Jamali, vice-chancellor of the Sardar Bahadur Khan Women’s University and Shoaib Mir, principal secretary to the governor and secretary of the Higher Education Commission, was constituted on June 13 in accordance with the policy of the HEC.

The committee had deliberated upon the matter for over two months and considered several candidates, including the sitting vice-chancellor, Ghulam Mohammad Taj, and Younus Khan Mandokhel, former chief secretary of Balochistan among others.

The search committee, he said, had formally finalised three names for approval by the chancellor (the governor).
