KARACHI, Oct 5: Sindh Minister for local Government Muhammad Hussain has said that foreign-funded projects will be completed in a transparent manner to ensure that their maximum benefits reach the people.

He stated this while talking to a four-member delegation of NGOs in his office on Thursday.

The minister said the Asian Development Bank had provided a loan for the Sindh Rural Development Project which would be utilized in five districts -- Mirpurkhas, Umerkot, Sanghar, Badin and Thatta -- for the provision of basic amenities and poverty reduction.

He said a comprehensive strategy had been chalked out for an early execution of this project.

Mohammed Hussain said that under the SRDP timely start of a development project and its completion within the stipulated time should be the top priority of the Local Government Department. Delay in the execution of such schemes not only resulted in cost escalation but at the same time desired results were also not achieved, he added.

Mr Hussain said he would soon visit on-going development projects in the province to observe their progress as well as quality of work.— APP
