GUJRANWALA, Oct 4: Police have claimed the arrest of three alleged terrorists, including mastermind of attack on Ahmadis’ centre in Moong village in which eight people were killed while 15 others injured on Oct 7 last year.

Regional police officer Malik Iqbal said at a press conference here on Wednesday that Muhammad Arshad alias Doctor, Azhar Iqbal alias Abdul Rehman and Khyzar Hayat were the activists of a banned organisation. They were expert in bomb manufacturing.

The RPO claimed that they were also involved in an attempt to blow imambargah Qasre Aal-i-Imran at Maltowal. Police failed their plan and recovered a bomb which exploded in the police station leaving one constable dead.

He said their two accomplices, Qari Salim and Nisar Ahmad, planned grenade attack at the shrine of Hazrat Lal Shahbaz Qalandar in Sehwan Sharif.

During investigation they also disclosed their future terrorist plans, he added.

Meanwhile, Mandi Bahauddin Saddar police presented the accused before the anti-terrorism court No 1 and got 14-day remand of Arshad and Khyzar Hayat and seven day physical remand of Azhar.

Schools: Over 50 state-run primary schools for boys and girls are working without boundary walls while eight schools have been closed owing to non-availability of teaching staff in Wahando area, it is learnt here.

A source told this correspondent that out of 183 primary schools managed by the education department, eight have been closed at Haveli Hinjra, Lachman Das, Baqapur, Wahando No. 1, Morr Aimanabad No. 3 and Dera Tahliwala owing to non-availability of teaching staff and furniture.

He said over 50 schools were working without any boundary wall while most of them were being run under open sky as their buildings had been declared dangerous and could not be reconstructed or repaired so far. As a result of which parents were preferring to get their children admitted to private schools despite exorbitant fees.

When contacted, a deputy education officer said data had been collected and all better facilities with furniture and teaching staff would be provided soon.
