SUKKUR, Oct 4: A bench of the Sindh High Court has ordered the SHO of Mirpur Mathelo to register an FIR against people responsible for holding a jirga, in which a three-year-old girl was given in marriage and a fine of Rs.40, 000 was imposed.

The single-judge bench Justice Rehmat Hussain Jaffery issued the orders on Wednesday, on a constitutional petition filed by Mohammad Ibrahim resident of Ghotki, against the SHO of Mirpur Mathelo and Ghotki and others, through his counsel Ghulam Shabbir Shar.

Earlier, notices were issued to them to appear before the court on October 4.

The petitioner submitted through his lawyer that on April 15, 2006 the accused Mohammad Shabaan Kumbhar, Ghulam Abbas Shah, Abdul Rahim Channa, Mohammad Siddiq Channa, Mohammad Bachal Channa, Mubarak Ali Channa and others forcibly took him to a jirga and declared his son Bashir Ahmed as karo with Mst. Shahul.

They also asked him to hand over his three-year old grand daughter Sajida and to pay a fine of Rs.40,000.

The petitioner further stated that when the matter was brought to the notice of the SHO concerned he, instead of registering a case against the accused people, pressured him to abide by the instructions of the jirga.

He alleged that the accused had paid a handsome amount in graft to the police officer.

On this the SHC ordered the SHO of Mirpur Mathelo, Gul Hassan Lohar and SHO of Ghotki, Qalb-e-Abbas Shah to register FIR against all the responsible people and submit a report to the court within three days.

WOMAN KILLED: A married woman was clubbed to death by her in-laws, on the pretext of karo-kari, in the Ayub Lakhan village in the jurisdiction of Ghotki police station late on Tuesday night.

Accused Gul Mohammad alias Gullo suspected that his daughter-in-law, Sakina wife of Fazal Din Lakhan, was having illicit relations with some one else.

On this he along with his sons attacked her with sticks and put her to death.
