KARACHI: Rs15.9m zakat to be distributed among needy


KARACHI, Oct 4: Around Rs15.9 million rupees would be distributed among 5,203 persons in Shah Faisal Town through Baitul Maal funds for Food Support Programme.

This was stated by Shah Faisal Town Nazim Mohammed Imran while addressing a meeting of officials of Baitul Maal, General Post Office and National Bank of Pakistan.

The town nazim underlined the imperative need for taking measures to make the lives of needy persons comfortable and respectful through simplified distribution system of financial assistance.

He said the funds would be distributed through cheques to maintain transparency and save needy recipients from facing any problems. For this purpose, he said, a special counter had been set up at NBP Shah Faisal branch where deserving people can open their account with just Rs10.

He said that the UC nazims along with responsible functionaries of Baitul Maal would carry out scrutiny and distribute cheques of Rs3,000 to each deserving person. The cheques could be deposited only in the accounts opened by deserving people, he added.

The needy persons, who are receiving cheques regularly, would be delivered cheques of 11th instalment from Oct 10.Nazim Town called upon the officials and elected representatives to perform this noble task with honesty and select only deserving ones so that no one was deprived of due right.

The vice-chairman Baitul Maal Shah Faisal and Malir Town and TMO Shah Faisal Barkat Rizvi, Nazims of UC-2 and 4, lady and minority councillors were also present on the occasion.

KEAMARI: Afaq Saeed assumed the responsibilities of Keamari Town Municipal Officer on Wednesday.

Addressing an introductory meeting, he said that the town officials should make continuous efforts towards provision of improved facilities to the people by considering themselves as public servants and not officers.

“Working with a team spirit under the leadership of Town Nazim Humayun Khan, we have to take steps for the development of Keamari Town and bringing it at par with other developed towns of the city,” he stressed.

The TMO asked all the officers to adhere to the duty timings and maintain attendance registers. He said that he would pay detailed visits to the areas and review the ongoing works in connection with health, cleanliness and development projects.
