KARACHI, Oct 4: Sindh Minister for Tourism, Culture and Social Welfare Rauf Siddiqi said here on Wednesday that there was a dire need to devise a comprehensive tourism policy for foreign tourists in Sindh which would not only promote tourism but also bring foreign exchange to the province and decrease unemployment.
Addressing a meeting here on Wednesday, he called for commencing work on Shah Belo International Safari Park, on 150 square kilometres in forests of Shah Belo near Sukkur on immediate basis as the Sindh cabinet had already granted approval of this project.
The forest spread on 600 square kilometres in past was a hideout of dacoits and outlaws. The government recently in an operation ended these hideouts and dens of dacoits from this forest.
He noted that the federal government had declared 2007 as a year of tourists.
“In this regard, new opportunities in field of tourism, especially in Sindh, need to be searched out,” he added.
